But this is no excuse not to be blogging, so here I go again!
And yet again I managed to get a song on my brain within the first sentence of the blog post. Which means that you get to have it on your brain for the rest of your time reading this. Enjoy:
My goodness. What hirsute gentlemen.
This is going to be another diary-style blog post, I'm afraid, so feel free to skip it if you're not into all that jazz. Fortunately (for you) I'm absolutely knackered, so I'm going to try to keep it short and sweet...
This week has been an absolute blast. Starting work for MB has been brilliant - the guys have been incredible friendly, welcoming, and helpful, I already feel like I belong there. On Wednesday night they took me out for drinks at one of the many, many pubs within sight of their office, which was a chance to relax a bit and get to know them a bit more as people. On the actual work side, things have been going brilliantly as well - spent the first three or four days running through some tutorials just to be sure that I was up-to-scratch (and fell in love with CSS a little bit along the way - for any vaguely nerdy people, when you hear that this was built entirely in HTML5 and CSS3, you should be pretty impressed!)
There's been a fair amount of Jitsu-ing going on this week as well. I went back to Colchester on Tuesday for the Jitsu Christmas Dinner (which I unfortunately had to leave before dessert to catch the last train back), at which I repeatedly had my resemblance to a certain sparkly bloodsucker pointed out to me. Joy. I headed back to Colchester again on Thursday for my last training session before the weekend, which, despite being knackering, was encouraging - I came out of it feeling pretty good about grading on Saturday.
On the day, though, I completely went to pieces. I confused Tai and Tani Otoshi, and got marked down for mucking up Harai Goshi (I HATE that throw). My pressure work was pretty decent though (although we only got to do a circle, no V - WTF?) - I think it was that that carried me through to a pass. Unfortunately, a couple of other guys from my club had bad luck on the day, and didn't manage to get the passes that they richly deserved. Here's wishing them the best of luck for the next time.
Went direct from the grading to Nick's pad (talking of which, what's happened to the Shag Palace?) for his 22nd, which was a jolly convivial affair - including the first reuniting of The Batcave since we graduated! Luckily, I was way too dehydrated and tired to be able to drink any really damaging amount, so I actually woke up without a hangover - result! The (by now traditional) brunch at Jack's certainly helped though :)
And now I'm back in St. Albans, happily in my room, and about to curl up, get a good night's sleep, and wake up feeling refreshed to start another week of work that I love. My life, it is wonderful.
I thought - "Ha! I have headphones in! I can check what song you're trying to infect us with without catching it! What's it called? How's that go again? DAMNIT! Ear-worm without even hearing it!"
ReplyDeleteAlso, I believe the technical term was 'snuggle palace'. Or 'shag pad'.
